Rights Sales Manager - Children`s and Educational

We have a fabulous opportunity with a children`s educational publishing company where the people are passionate and inspirational about children`s learning.  This is a fantastic role for an experienced Rights Sales Manager looking to work for a forward thinking and highly successful company where you can make a difference.

Reporting to the senior director the Rights Sales Manager will be responsible for actively seeking, managing and generating profit from sales of company owned intellectual property through co-edition and sub-license deals across a range of territories, including SE Asia, China and Europe.  The Rights Sales Manager will work closely with the Managing Director and Export Sales Manager to develop and monitor sales targets and plans, as well as strategies for future development of the company`s Rights business.

This role will manage a Rights Sales Executive and there will be a requirement to travel to all major book fairs and some travel to assigned territories.

Responsibilities of the Rights Sales Manager will include overseeing the rights business and provide regular reports to senior management on sales, prospects and future opportunities in co-editions and rights sales.  You will also oversee the relationship with the external Sales Agency which represents the company`s trade content, ensuring goals are agreed upon, relevant product insight and material is provided on time and all contracting and payments are handled appropriately.  You will be involved in setting yearly targets for your own territories together with the Managing Director, as well as contributing to setting targets for other territories and attend sales trips to territories and books fairs as necessary.  Other responsibilities of the role will involve working with the Managing Director to identify new opportunities for future development of the Rights business, provide a high standard of customer care and support and develop strong product knowledge to identify sales opportunities.

This is a strategic role within the company with an opportunity to expand your Rights Sales experience in a wide range of territories and the successful candidate will be of graduate calibre and ideally proficient in one other language (this is not essential though).  You will have significant experience of working in a Rights Sales role in either children`s or educational publishing with the flexibility of being able to travel to sales meetings and book fairs as require (extensive travel is not required with this role). You will be IT literate with experience of MS Office; strong insight and understanding of the global publishing business and experience of managing relationships with third party agents.  You should be able to work as part of a team as well as working independently and be culturally empathetic.
