Scientific Services Team Leader (Editorial)
Our client, a leading STM publisher, requires a Scientific Services Team Leader who will play a pivotal role in managing and developing a team of medical writers.
The successful candidate will act as lead writer on at least one account to drive revenue and provide scientific leadership, both within the account team and with the client. They will also provide scientific expertise to other accounts and in the development of new business pitches and proposals. The Scientific Services Team Leader will also be required to assist Scientific Services Directors with resource planning.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership of medical writers and trainee medical writers
Line management responsibility for a team of up to 6 medical writers and/or trainee medical writers
Implement Communications performance management systems for team
Develop medical writers within the team to their full potential and to meet customer and Communications business needs
Project delivery:
Manage all aspects of delivery of scientific content that meets client needs, internal quality standards and timelines:
Act as Lead Writer
Review scientific content
Monitor quality, style and accuracy
Ensure that new products and services are offered to clients as appropriate
Assist in planning editorial resource
Business Planning/commercial:
Apply knowledge of the therapeutic use and strategic marketing of pharmaceuticals to account plans, strategic publication plans, strategic communication programmes, proposals and pitches
Provide scientific expertise to Business Development in the development of new business pitches and proposals
Maintain broad awareness of developments in relevant therapeutic areas and discipline, editorial issues within publishing and the Pharma Solutions product portfolio
Assist in developing new opportunities within accounts
Skills & Experience:
- Life science degree or equivalent experience
- Proven extensive writing experience in a communications agency or the pharmaceutical industry or healthcare industries
- Demonstrable reviewing/coaching experience in a communications agency
- Proven experience of team management
- Travel Requirements- Some local and international travel will be required.
