Senior Commissioning Editor

An academic publishing company is seeking a Senior Commissioning Editor to provide strategic development of a portfolio of society owned journals. This role is based in Oxford.

 

Key duties:

  • Manage the strategic development of the Psychology and Educational Research journals
  • Acquire new society contracts and retain contracts for existing journals
  • Build strong relationships with societies
  • Commission established and new titles and enhance society services
  • Implement major editorial or financial development on individual titles
  • Attend conferences and meetings in the UK and overseas as required
  • Line management duties

 

Experience / skills required:

  • A good understanding of journal publishing processes and issues is essential
  • Experience of working with professional associations or learned societies
  • You will have prior demonstrable experience of fronting editor and editorial board meetings
  • The ability to deliver editorial and financial development
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are required
  • A collaborative approach and the ability to develop and maintain strong client relationships
