We're Hiring!

We are currently recruiting a Senior Commissioning Editor who will assume responsibility for the strategic development of our programme of journals in education and humanities. Supported by an Editorial Assistant the role-holder will manage a team of Journal Publishing Managers whilst building strong relationships with your own society clients for the journals you manage directly and taking a senior role on the journals managed by your team. 

The role also includes spending time working on new business opportunities including commissioning established and new titles and enhancing our society services through continuing professional development programmes and community focused activities such as our Education Roundtable series, Humanities Roundtable series, the How to get Published sessions and more.

Senior Commissioning Editor Selection Criteria:

> A good understanding of journal publishing processes and issues, academic journal publishing in general, the key issues/debates in electronic publishing and the common financial models 
> Demonstrated experience of fronting editor and editorial board meetings, presenting to editors, editorial boards and society offices, attending conferences, agreeing and implementing major editorial or financial development on individual titles, negotiating and closing contract signings or renewals
> Good computer skills including Microsoft Office
> Strong negotiation skills
> The ability to make sound economic and timely decisions
> Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
> A good grasp of grammar and syntax
> Educated to degree level or equivalent
