Senior Commissioning Editor, Women’s Fiction – Transworld

Your Challenge

We have a brilliant opportunity for an experienced and entrepreneurial acquiring editor to join Transworld as Senior Commissioning Editor on the Women’s Fiction team in a new permanent role, ideally to start in September 2015.

The purpose of your role will be to drive established company and genre strategies through brand-managing and acquiring the very best titles in the women’s fiction market. You will be managing and growing a list of high-profile commercial fiction titles, including brand name authors, ensuring they are delivered to schedule and to budget. In addition, you will also deputise for the Editorial Director (to whom the role reports) when necessary.

We are looking for someone passionate and very knowledgeable about all kinds of women’s fiction, from commercial to literary, with strong existing commissioning experience. You must be highly commercially-minded and a voracious reader and you’ll have a successful track record for commissioning profitable books.

Your Profile

Self-motivated and highly creative, you will have the vision to generate innovative ideas and seek out new publishing opportunities. You’ll build and
develop both new and established industry contacts and spot great new talent while retaining the best authors. You’ll then be able to transmit your enthusiasm and galvanise a whole publishing team to turn your books into bestsellers.

The ability to work effectively under pressure while keeping to schedule is essential, as are good organisational skills and attention to detail. You will be highly efficient, articulate and confident, and enjoy working as part of a dynamic, forward-thinking team.
