Senior Fiction Designer

Stripes Publishing, sister company of Little Tiger Press, is looking for an experienced designer with a passion for illustrated fiction to join its small and busy team. The role will involve working on a range of highly accessible and innovative titles within Stripes’ dynamic and exciting children’s fiction list. This is initially a nine month contract, to start ASAP.

Stripes has established itself as a publisher of quality fiction for children aged 6–16, with highly successful series including Dirty Bertie, Stitch Head, Holly Webb’s Animal Stories and Undead Pets. The list has some well-loved authors and illustrators including David Roberts,  Alan MacDonald, Holly Webb, Guy Bass and Peter Bently.

The ideal candidate will have at least four years’ experience in children’s books. You will be well-organised, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills and you will thrive in a fluid working environment. Creative flair and a meticulous eye for detail are essential, as is a strong working knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator and Indesign.

Working as part of the in-house design team, you will be required to work on a number of established series simultaneously, taking responsibility for entire books, and seeing projects through to finished copy on schedule. This will include designing covers and internals for new and existing series, as well as liaising with illustrators, artworking, and preparing books for repro.

This is a fantastic role for someone seeking the opportunity to work on the very best in commercial and child-friendly fiction.

If you would like to apply for this position, please email your CV and a covering letter stating your current salary to Ali Ardington at aardington@stripespublishing.co.uk

Closing date for application is 8th December.
