Senior Desk Editor

This new role of Senior Desk Editor will report to the Head of Content Management and sit at the heart of the editorial processes for a specific Education product portfolio, where your main remit will be to co-ordinate experienced freelance teams whilst take on your own editorial projects. You will have the opportunity to:

  • Work across a variety of subjects
  • Co-ordinate and manage a large freelance team
  • Bring your skills in budgeting and timely delivery to the product list
  • Work as a core part of a new team
  • Play a pivotal role in delivering quality for customers

The ideal Senior Desk Editor will have solid editorial experience, ideally in the area of UK education, combined with excellent project management skills. Experience of working with large freelance teams and with market-leading authors would also be very valuable as would experience of working with awarding-body endorsement processes. You will have a deep understanding of what "good" looks like when it comes to editorial quality, and excellent attention to detail and organisation skills. You should have knowledge of, or an interest in, the issues facing teachers and students, as well as the trends and developments across the current education landscape, and be equally comfortable working with publishing for 'general' and 'vocational' qualifications. With excellent communication and relationship building skills, you will have the ability to develop successful and long-lasting partnerships with freelancers, authors and others.
