Senior Development Editor – Adult Blended Learning

 

Macmillan Publishers Ltd is looking for an experienced English Language Teaching Editor to join its exciting and dynamic International Adult Publishing team. 

The editor will work on cutting-edge print and digital (blended learning) products for the Adult General English market. Working closely with the Publisher and in-house commissioning team, the editor will play a key role in shaping and developing content in accordance with market and customer requirements. The successful applicant will work closely with authors, digital software developers, instructional designers and freelance editors to ensure the development of high quality and market appropriate print and digital content. 

The ideal candidate will possess: 

 

  • Demonstrable understanding of ELT teaching and learning contexts
  • Content development experience and strong editorial skills
  • Understanding of digital workflows and processes, and experience of working in a cross-functional team
  • Experience of working on, and managing, complex and time-sensitive projects
  • Experience of working to tight deadlines in a fast-paced publishing environment
  • Experience of managing authors and freelancers
  • Ability to work within a team and to work independently
  • Strong communication skills
  • A can-do, positive attitude and commitment to achieving results

In addition, the following experience is highly desirable: 

 

  • Demonstrable print and digital content development experience
  • Extensive knowledge of the adult market and strong commercial awareness
  • Line management experience
  • Strong influencing, presentation and negotiation skills
