The Institutional Marketing team markets OUP online products to libraries and other institutions around the world, with a focus on academic institutions.

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior/ Marketing Manager to lead institutional marketing for our journal and online product portfolio, and to manage the library marketing teams (who cover the UK, European, and Australia/New Zealand markets). This role will also contribute to the overall marketing strategy for journals products within the library market.

In conjunction with the Associate Director of Institutional Marketing, you will be responsible for developing the UK/ Europe/ ANZ institutional marketing strategy and managing its successful implementation, which includes the following vehicles –

  • library communication and resources
  • direct to library marketing/ promotion (events, direct marketing, etc.)
  • campaign planning and analysis
  • usage campaigns
  • sales support and training
  • Library Advisory Council management

You will also partner with sales to identify new markets and customers, and to support sales deals, trials, and renewal efforts. This will include:

  • responsibility for collating and communicating on major librarian trends in region (budgets, developments, etc.)
  • responsibility for the library customer experience and brand development across all customer touch points (marketing, sales materials, communications, web, customer service messaging, etc.) in the region
  • becoming a 'key voice' for librarian needs in all marketing and relevant OUP wide projects
  • partnering with IM management and business analysts to monitor key metrics in these markets, including usage trends, market penetration, and conduct gap analysis

About You

The ideal candidate will demonstrate ability to –

  • manage their time and prioritize
  • communicate effectively with colleagues around the business
  • be managed remotely and line manage staff (a team of four)
  • lead a team as well as work well within a team environment
  • make decisions quickly and clearly communicate these to others
  • undertake international travel as required (to attend meetings with OUP staff and library conferences)

You should have –

  • degree level education (or equivalent)
  • proven experience marketing (ideally in the academic, publishing, or library environment)
  • extensive knowledge of the institutional and/ or library market (preferred)
  • initiative and creativity
  • strengths in analytics and critical thinking
  • computer literacy including a good knowledge of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
