Senior Publishing Editor
Based in beautiful offices in central London, this Senior Publishing Editor position is an exceptional opportunity to join a prestigious scientific society to work on their new open access journal.
Key duties:
- Take the lead on all publishing aspects of journals, and ensure strategic targets are met
- Contribute to the journals’ development and devise and implement publishing strategies
- Ensure the journals are leaders in their fields by identifying trends and opportunities within the market
- Manage budgets and contribute to the financial development of the publishing department
- Manage staff and motivate colleagues, co-ordinating editorial activities
- Manage the peer-review process and post-acceptance procedures
- Work closely with the marketing team and take ownership of the journal to ensure high impact and visibility
- Travel to UK and international conferences or seminars as required
Experience / skills required:
- Established editorial and development experience in an STM journals publishing environment
- Excellent knowledge of the STM market and its publishing requirements
- An active awareness of hot topic areas across the sciences
- Experience of managing the peer-review process
- First-class communication and relationship building skills
- A proactive and thorough approach to work with a problem-solving attitude
- Good organisation skills with the ability to work under pressure
- A degree in a scientific subject or equivalent
