Senior Publishing Editor (STM journals)

Based in beautiful offices in central London, this Senior Editor position is an exceptional opportunity to join a prestigious scientific society to work on high-quality scientific journals.

 

Key duties:

  • Take the lead on all publishing aspects of journals, and ensure strategic targets are met
  • Contribute to the journals’ development and devise and implement publishing strategies
  • Ensure the journals are leaders in their fields by identifying trends and opportunities within the market
  • Manage the peer-review process and post-acceptance procedures
  • Manage staff and motivate colleagues, co-ordinating editorial activities
  • Work closely with the marketing team and take ownership of the journal
  • Travel to UK and international conferences or seminars as required

 

Experience / skills required:

  • Established editorial and development experience in an STM journals publishing environment
  • Excellent knowledge of the STM market and its’ publishing requirements
  • An active awareness of hot topic areas across the sciences
  • Experience of managing the peer-review process
  • First-class communication and relationship building skills
  • A proactive and thorough approach to work with a problem-solving attitude
  • Good organisation skills with the ability to work under pressure
  • A degree in a scientific subject or equivalent
