The S&S Adult non-fiction team is looking for an Editorial Assistant to work in their quality commercial team. Reporting to the Publishing Director and supporting the S&S editorial team as a whole, this is an exciting role for someone who loves non-fiction and wants to work with books and authors who will reach a wide audience.

This role would involve close involvement in all editorial administration activities leading to publication across non-fiction titles, including (but not limited to): running reports (TCM, TMM, etc); developing and maintaining content on the databases; diary management; organising author publication gifts; processing expenses; organising schedules for fairs and overseas trips; reading and assessing manuscripts; copyediting; briefing and managing freelancers and liaising with authors and agent.

The Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will have a can-do attitude, an awareness of the zeitgeist and a genuine passion for non-fiction, who will be able to take their own initiative and will thrive in a busy and varied role. You will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, with a strong grasp of grammar, a meticulous eye for detail and an ability to interact at all levels. You don’t need years of publishing experience, but you need to be willing to learn from and adapt to a busy team of editors.
