Software Developer

A leading independent Educational publisher based in Essex, a commutable distance from London, is seeking a multi-skilled Software Developer to join their digital development team. This is the perfect opportunity for a Junior Software Developer looking to take a step up in their career.

As Software Developer, the main remit of the role is to innovate and develop educational software for desktop, mobile and web, whether for home use or for use in a school environment.

Key responsibilities of the Software Developer include:

*Develop cross-platform desktop applications (Mac and PC), for IWB/classroom use
*Develop cross-platform mobile applications
*Develop web applications or web sites
*Maintain and update existing software
*Assist the digital department & provide technical support to customers where necessary

The ideal Software Developer will have either a degree in Computer Science or a related subject, and/or minimal relevant work experience as a Software Developer, or in publishing. As a valued member of the team, the Software Developer will be motivated to take on a project and see it through to completion. You will be fluent in English and have good grammar, spelling and punctuation skills.

Other key skills of the Software Developer include:
*Desktop application development for Mac OS and Windows
*Mobile application development
*PHP and MySQL
*HTML5, Javascript and CSS
*Git for code source control (preferably GitHub)
*Good understanding of OOP and programming concepts
*Mac and PC literate
