STEM Journal Publishing Editor

Are you looking to further your editorial career in scientific publishing? We are working with an established international publisher of scientific books and journals, who are now looking to hire a Journal Publishing Editor to develop their STEM portfolio (particularly in the field of Maths).

Their office is in Central London, but they are open to consider hybrid and remote working arrangements.

The Journal Editor will be responsible for developing and managing a portfolio of Open Access STEM research journals. Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading the acquisition and launch of new Open Access STEM journals
  • Managing existing journals, monitoring the performance of allocated journals and collaborating with the editorial team to ensure continuous growth in content, quality, and revenue.
  • Exploring new publishing models to maintain market relevance
  • Identifying special issues. keeping abreast of research trends to identify high-value topics for Special Issues and commissioning qualified guest editors to launch call-for-papers
  • Maintaining and improving editorial, production, and publishing operations, ensuring quality control across all aspects of the portfolio
  • Working towards portfolio objectives such as content growth, citation share, impact factor, editorial speed, and satisfaction of authors and editors
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with authors, referees, and Editorial Board members.
  • Representing the company at relevant conferences and events, building networks and promoting the journals

This role requires a solid academic background in a scientific discipline (preferably Maths), and some experience in STEM publishing, together with great relationship management skills and ability to work on multiple projects. If this sounds like you, get in touch to learn more!
