Studio Manager

 

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Studio Manager to join a leading independent trade publisher of illustrated fiction and non-fiction. Based in their offices in central London, you will work alongside the Art Director to lead and manage a team of Designers.

Key duties:

  • Oversee and maintain effective workflow through the studio, keeping projects to schedule
  • Supporting the Art Director, take responsibility for design quality control
  • Manage departmental budget
  • Ensure Design work is delivered to production on time and in line with high quality standards
  • Provide design support, amending and creating new designs, troubleshooting when required
  • Managing and purchasing company fonts and print buying
  • Develop, manage and lead staff, commissioning freelancers when required
  • Liaise with IT department to ensure smooth running of the studio is maintained

Experience / skills required:

  • Extensive experience of working in a Design environment, preferably in book publishing
  • Proven experience of managing a team with budget responsibility is essential
  • Design degree or equivalent is required
  • Able to organise workflow, prioritise and multi-task, working under pressure to tight deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to deal with colleagues at all levels
  • Flexible and personable with an ability to build strong professional relationships
  • A proactive and problem solving approach and ability to delegate
