Temporary Press Officer

Are you looking for an exciting temporary challenge in scientific research and public relations? Our client, a prestigious scientific society based in central London, is looking for a Temporary Press Officer to join the team on a 4 month fixed term contract.

The Press Officer will work as part of the Society's media relations team, responsible for producing and delivering allocated press campaigns, briefing the media and build and help maintain excellent relationships with media contacts and journalists in local, national and international media. Ahead of press launches, the Press Officer will brief spokespeople and commentators and produce media releases and statements as well as contributing to the digital presence of the society across social media.

The successful candidate will have a strong knowledge of the media, and be experienced in pitching and securing coverage across a wide range of media outlets. Experience working in a busy press office or newsroom is essential, alongside excellent written and verbal communication skills and a high level of organisation and time management skills. Whilst a scientific background is not essential, a proven interest in science and STEM policy issues would an advantage.

If you are available immediately then please get in touch with Esme or Verity to find out more.

For a full description of the role, please send your CV with a brief paragraph outlining your relevant skills.

Closing Date: Early applications may be prioritised.
