Temporary Production Manager - Music

We are looking for an experienced Production professional to take on a temporary role of Production Manager. You will be joining a leading, internally recognised, music-focused education publishing organisation on an initial 2-3 month temporary contract (with potential to become permanent). The role requires a start date of the 1st November and the working hours are from 11am to 7pm UK time. This is a remote role and can be conducted from anywhere across the UK.

As Production Manager you will coordinate and facilitate the timely production of commercial and exam-related music products, and support materials. While creatively collaborating with all members of the team, primary responsibilities include a blend of music print and e-book production and design, e-store and marketing support, and various scheduling and workflow tasks. This role ensures product quality, accuracy and consistent brand identity across publications and materials. You will have the opportunity to:

  • Project manage and coordinate the production of a wide variety of music publications. To include music books, examination papers, and examiners' confidential tests
  • Request print quotes, determine print timeline, and serve as the external print liaison
  • Prepare new product sales notes and metadata
  • Process all final audio assets
  • Print buying and stock control
  • Manage print and e-book reprints
  • Produce layout and design of covers and promotional materials
  • Repurpose print books to eBooks
  • Maintain the e-book store
  • Be responsible for downloadable audio
  • Communicate with distributors

The successful temporary Production Manager will have University-level musical knowledge and theoretical understanding (a bachelor's degree in music or equivalent level of musical literacy), alongside prior experience in print publishing and production, combined with excellent project management skills. Prior publishing production experience is essential, and you will need to be PC and web savvy, a highly organised individual, accurate with data, and be familiar with Adobe Creative Suite.
