Textbook Development Editor
A leading Trade and Academic publisher based in central London is looking for a Development Editor to develop highly illustrated educational content for a range of textbooks on Fashion Design, Moving Image, Visual Communications and Photography.
Key duties:
- Provide guidance to authors on textbook requirements, ensuring texts fulfil relevant criteria
- Establish schedules for delivery of content, liaising with Commissioning Editors and authors
- Manage peer-review process and analyse reviewer feedback
- Brief and approve text designs, working closely with Designers and managing artwork programme
- Establish planning for companion material, managing delivery of additional resources
- Develop and maintain in-depth knowledge of competition, undertaking competitor analysis and managing market assessments
Experience / skills required:
- Editorial and project management experience in educational or visual arts publishing is required
- Experience of briefing and working with Designers is essential
- Proven experience working with companion material and undertaking market research and producing reports
- Strong communications skills with the ability of creating and maintaining solid relationships
