UK Sales Assistant

Reporting and Compliance

Download digital sales reports for all customers, checking that sales are recorded for new books. Download weekly reports of eBook sales for Kindle and iTunes. Work with the accounts department to ensure we have a full and accurate record of sales and invoicing, including provision of initial upload details (e.g. Amazon Advantage data).

Availability and data checks, on initial upload to ensure timely and full pre-order listings. To be repeated immediately prior to publication and on a regular basis across all major retail sites, amending information where necessary.

Proactively checking metadata: covers, copy and keywords making sure they are suitable for digital formats, up-to-date, and search-friendly. Work with Editorial colleagues to improve where necessary and provide extra content where appropriate. Retailer listing analysis should also incorporate RRP and discount checks, edition linking, territory and currency information (including takedown of infringing titles) and additions of inside spreads and videos where appropriate and possible. Prompting Editorial to make changes to metadata where new information (prize win or review quote) will influence sales of titles.

Proactively coordinate end matter in key titles, requesting links, ads and preview chapters and other enhanced content, working with Editorial, IT and marketing to plan these additions in good time.

To communicate with Editorial, Marketing and PR and UK sales team, providing information about author, category and publisher sales performance

 

Analysis

 

Perform detailed and frequent pricing analysis, with regard to both UK and international markets.

To provide a range of data for key titles and brands from Amazon.co.uk and other digital and online platforms to Marketing and Publicity. This will include tracking key titles through the marketing and PR campaign period to inform which press coverage and marketing activity leads to sales spikes, to provide geographical data on where a title is selling to inform marketing and PR’s campaigns, to track areas where events and tours have taken place to see if there is a halo effect on sales.

To analyse conversion rates, alternative purchases and most popular Amazon searches to adjust metadata, to share with marketing and PR to incorporate into their campaigns, for example using frequently searched keywords as tags in website copy or into descriptive metadata.

To be aware of popular search terms and purchases on Amazon.co.uk and other digital and online retail platforms for books and non-book product where the themes or subject matters might present sales opportunities for backlist titles with similar themes.

To track pre-orders for key titles, to share with Key Account Manager, Digital and Online.

To provide data to Marketing and PR about keywords used on digital and online retail channels

 

Other

 

To post information about promotions on digital and online retailers on Walker Book’s social media channels in conjunction with the digital marketing manager.

To provide any administrative support, including tasks other than digital admin, where necessary to the Key Account Manager: Amazon, Digital and Online and the UK Sales Director.

 

Key Performance Indicators

 

Complete delivery of eBooks to pre-order and publication schedule, meeting KPIs set by the Key Account Manager.

Correct metadata in place for all titles across retail platforms, including covers and additional images and content, meeting KPIs set by Key Account Manager.

Monthly reporting of digital sales to Key Account Manager and accounts.

Regular reports including analysis on key campaign titles, across lists and brands and trends to sales, marketing and publicity teams, leading to sales increases.

Regular reports to the wider SMP team on trends visible in the market to a time frame agreed with the Key Account Manager.
