Commissioning Manager

We have an exciting opportunity for a Commissioning Manager to join an established professional association based in central London. Working within an experienced publishing team, you will be responsible for developing a list of high quality legal titles.

 

Key duties:

  • Develop a coherent publishing strategy for a list of high quality legal titles
  • Conduct market research and competitor analysis to identify opportunities for new products
  • Commissioning new titles according to target and manage backlist publications
  • Present proposals to the Publishing Team and maintain sustainable relationships with authors
  • Line manage two Commissioning Editors

Experience / skills required:

  • Established editorial experience of working in a legal or academic publishing environment
  • Solid commissioning experience
  • Knowledge of current and general issues within the legal profession would be an advantage
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to deliver projects on time and to budget
  • Excellent communication skills and team player attitude
  • Line management experience
