Manufacturing Controller (contract)

An academic publisher based in Oxfordshire is looking for a Manufacturing Controller. You’ll already have some book publishing experience, ideally in production / data roles and be looking for your next challenge. This is a 12 month maternity cover contract to start ASAP. You’ll be joining a small friendly team within book publishing services.

Key duties:

• Support the manufacturing process for a list of academic and professional books
• Work with printers across the globe and ensure the best suppliers are selected based on price, quality and timescales
• Managing printer performance to ensure they adhere to timescales and are cost-effective
• Quality assurance of delivered goods
• Ensure suppliers are paid correctly, and on time
• Maintenance of supporting metadata and systems

Experience / skills required:

• Some publishing experience and an understanding of book production/inventory/manufacturing processes
• Keen eye for detail and a high level of numeracy
• Analytical and quality-minded approach, excellent problem solving skills, and a fast learner
• Excellent communication skills
• Some understanding of digital file standards and manipulation is desirable
• Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and processing and prioritising a high volume of queries
• Good IT skills, including Excel and experience with data systems, pulling reports and analysing information (eg Access but training on bespoke company systems will be provided)
