Production Editor (Academic) x2

Our client, a leading independent academic publisher, is looking for two Production Editors to join the academic publishing team working on books and digital products across subjects including History, Philosophy and Music.  This is a great opportunity for a junior production editorial candidate to gain experience on a varied list at a well-known and prestigious publisher.

Please note that we have 2 positions: a permanent role and a 10 month fixed-term contract starting in May.

Key duties:

  • Manage titles from receipt of manuscript through to delivery of final files for print and digital
  • Estimate costs, maintain budgets and schedules 
  • Responsible for print buying
  • Liaise with authors, internal departments and suppliers, reporting on progress to all stakeholders
  • Ensure titles are successfully delivered on time, to budget and meeting high quality standards

Experience / skills required:

  • Experience in academic books publishing is essential
  • Solid copy-editing and proofreading experience
  • Proven print buying experience
  • Excellent MS Office and familiarity with Adobe products, XML-first workflows is a plus
  • Sound knowledge of print processes and workflows
