Senior Production Controller

A trade publisher in Oxford is looking for a Senior Production Controller to join their friendly team working on both adult and children’s titles.  Reporting to the Head of Production, this is a busy role, as you will be managing print titles from concept to delivery, across colour titles on frontlist, reprints and co-editions. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with solid experience in 4 colour book production.

Key duties:

• Oversee the smooth running of book production projects, from print buying to scheduling and delivery
• Raise purchase and shipping orders accurately
• Organise safety testing where needed
• Liaise between printers, colleagues and suppliers to facilitate smooth running of projects
• Draw up accurate estimates for colleagues for quotations to specification and budget

Experience / skills required:

• Must have solid previous production experience in book publishing, working on colour titles
• Experience of end to end book production, including print buying and negotiating costs with printers/suppliers
• Ability to manage a busy and varied workload to keep projects on schedule and to budget
• Meticulous attention to detail
• Good IT skills
• Knowledge of File Maker or IBS Book Maker desirable
