Andersen Press, the award-winning, independent children’s book publisher, is looking for a Production Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the manufacturing process and keeping a tight control on budgets, schedules and quality.

Working across a diverse range of fiction, picture book and novelty titles, the Production Manager will be responsible for managing the entire production process from negotiating printing costs and producing accurate costings through to placing purchase orders with approved suppliers and ensuring final stock is delivered on time. 

You will work closely with our in-house Editorial, Design, Sales and Finance teams as well as our external partners in the UK and overseas.

The ideal candidate will be a strong negotiator with excellent communication, organisation and time-management skills. You will have excellent attention to detail and a good head for numbers.  You will have, preferably, worked at a Senior Production Controller level and be able to demonstrate a working knowledge of publishing databases such as Biblio. A familiarity with desktop publishing (InDesign, Quark and Adobe) is also useful.

The successful candidate will be a motivated self-starter, comfortable working both independently and as part of a team and with the ability to anticipate and solve problems.  You must have a love of children’s books and enjoy working closely with designers and editors to produce innovative and beautiful books.
