We are seeking an Academic Sales Manager to sell Bloomsbury Academic & Professional books in the UK.
The role
- Work directly with all customers and Higher Education institutions to manage and achieve ambitious sales targets
- Negotiate prices, customer trading terms, and contractual agreements
- Deal with orders and queries, working closely with our UK-based warehouse to deliver exceptional customer service
- Frequently visit customers and universities to conduct sales calls and maintain strong local relationships
- Agree promotions with customers, submissions for catalogues and any other marketing plans. Present new books to customers.
- Identify ways in which Bloomsbury can increase market share in the UK, through further product development, distributor relations, sales events, and promotional campaigns.
- Co-coordinate the distribution of sales, marketing and publicity materials to customers and key contacts
- Attend key in-house meetings, including a weekly Publishing meeting and providing market feedback.
- Conduct competitive analyses and gathering market data to channel back to in-house teams
Skills, knowledge and experience
- A proven track record of success in a sales environment, with substantial book trade experience
- Experience working with UK Book Wholesalers and Key Accounts within the UK market
- Experience working with UK Institutions
- Proven experience presenting a range of complex products to senior decision-makers
- Knowledge of the UK Academic & Professional Publishing market
- A self-starting attitude and capacity to work independently
