Management Accountant (Bloomsbury Australia, UK based)
The opportunity
We are looking for a Management Accountant to support Bloomsbury’s Australian Company.
The role is UK based and is positioned within the Financial Operations team reporting into the UK and Australian Finance Manager. The role is responsible for delivering accurate profit and loss accounts each month and ensuring completeness for key balance sheet accounts.
The role
- Manage timely preparation of management accounts for the Australian business including:
- Review of profit and loss accounts ensuring completeness and accuracy of balances
- Processing monthly revenues , freight charges, stock movements using third party distributor statements
- Post prepayments, accruals and other month-end journals to ensure accounting accuracy for all overheads
- Process central reallocations
- Preparation of all balance sheet reconciliations with the ability to identify and resolve issues early
- Maintenance of fixed asset register
- Preparation of quarterly GST return
- Supporting purchase ledger with queries
- Review the cashbooks and bank reconciliations
- Preparation of stock provision and stock dashboard
- Support the Australian Finance Function in developing improvements to processes, financial control frameworks and documentation of accounting policies & procedures
- Preparation of ad hoc financial information/analysis for both financial and non-financial stakeholders
- Work with UK & AU Finance Manager to ensure a clean and timely interim & year-end audit
- To assist where appropriate in the preparation of budgets and quarterly re-forecasts
- Continue to develop a “no surprises” approach to management reporting
Skills, knowledge, experience
- Part Qualified CIMA or equivalent
- 3+ years relevant accounting experience (minimum)
- Relevant commercial experience (media/publishing an advantage)
- Ability to communicate with all levels of the business and provide clear guidance to non-financial stakeholders
- Fast and accurate, strong attention to detail
- Good analytical and judgement skills
- Proactive, motivated, able to show initiative
- Flexible in working hours and scope of work to be undertaken
- Ability to be flexible and work across a divisional matrix structure
- MS Excel (Strong)
- Access Dimensions (an advantage)
- Cognos TM1 (an advantage)
- Biblio (an advantage)
