Education Marketing Manager – Children’s Division (Maternity Cover)

The opportunity

Bloomsbury Publishing Plc is looking for a Marketing Manager to market Bloomsbury Education books and digital resources. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a passion for educational publishing and a proven track record with key contacts in the school and education market to join the bright and innovative marketing team of Bloomsbury Children’s Books, as well as working closely with the Bloomsbury Education editorial team. Bloomsbury Education publishes around 150 titles a year, ranging from resources and professional development for Early Years Practitioners (Featherstone), Pupil and teacher resources,) fiction and poetry, CPD (Bloomsbury Education) and two digital subscription websites for Early Years practitioners and teachers. It is a list at the forefront of educational publishing and offers a diverse range of titles to work on.

The role

  • Devising and executing marketing and publicity plans for key titles and series
  • Executing general marketing plans for Bloomsbury’s Education list as a whole
  • Managing the marketing budget for the Education lists and digital resources
  • Creating and servicing an online community for UK educators and the UK schools Education market (i.e. early years, primary and secondary)
  • Attending shows and events to promote the Education lists
  • Planning and organising author events and pitching authors for festivals and conferences
  • Managing the Education Marketing Assistant
  • Working closely with sales and agents to maximise exposure of the Education lists
  • Working collaboratively with editorial, sales and digital teams, as well as the wider Children’s M&P team
  • Developing partnerships with trade companies and teaching associations

Skills, knowledge and experience

  • Experience of marketing or promoting products to schools, teachers and audiences within the UK Education sector.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience working in book marketing.
  • Good knowledge of the UK early-years, primary and secondary Education sectors.
  • Knowledge of community building, social media, email, online advertising, SEO, websites
  • Experience of budgetary management and control. 
  • Experience of product or brand marketing. 
  • The ability to multi-task and work on several different projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills. 
  • Good copy-writing, proof-reading, design and project-management skills.
  • Good time-management and people-management skills.
