Marketing Manager, Fiction

The Opportunity

Bloomsbury Publishing is looking for a creative, enthusiastic and talented marketer to work across our high profile and award-winning fiction list. This is an exciting opportunity for an imaginative and experienced marketer to create major campaigns for bestselling names as well as break-out debut talent.

 

Bloomsbury’s celebrated fiction list features eminent literary and award-winning writers including Neil Gaiman, Khaled Hosseini, Madeline Miller and George Saunders as well as new voices such as Samantha Shannon and Kate Tempest. Our Raven Books imprint, launched at the start of 2017 already has a proven track record with established and new names Eva Dolan, Laura Purcell and Stuart Turton.

 

The Role

  • Managing and implementing imaginative and innovative marketing campaigns on individual titles and brands
  • Devising social media strategies for individual titles and brands that includes the creating of engaging digital content
  • Briefing in design teams to produce creative assets for campaigns 
  • Liaising with media agencies to brief in online/offline advertising campaigns
  • Presenting marketing campaigns to sales and editorial teams at quarterly meetings 
  • Producing marketing materials for retail sell-in   
  • Providing input from marketing at weekly editorial meetings – and producing pitch documents for pitch meetings and attending said meetings as required
  • Proactively pursue partnerships with third parties
  • Liaise with the global Bloomsbury marketing team ensuring that, wherever possible, Bloomsbury is marketing its titles globally
  • Work closely with the wider Fiction marketing & publicity team to provide PR support as required, including attending author events and press days
  • Reports into the Head of Publicity - Fiction

 

Skills, Knowledge and Experience

  • Experience in a marketing role and in trade publishing, ideally with some experience of working with fiction books and an understanding of the fiction retail marketplace
  • Creative vision
  • Keen interest in social media and online marketing opportunities
  • Excellent organisation skills and an ability to work on several projects simultaneously
  • Good time management skills
  • Good eye for detail
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Excellent copy-writing skills
  • Ability to cross-market and work with external brands and organisations
  • Good communication/presentation skills
  • Basic understanding of design software (In-Design/Photoshop)

 

This is a full-time, permanent role based at Bloomsbury’s London office; 50 Bedford Square, London, WC1B 3DP.
