We are looking for an experienced Production Manager to join our busy Children’s production team, which publishes a range of high-profile fiction, non-fiction, picture book and novelty titles.

Purpose of the Role

Working predominantly on our illustrated colour books including Harry Potter, you will manage the day-to-day workflow of assigned lists within the division to ensure that all projects (new titles and reprints, in all formats) are produced to schedule, high quality standards and within controlled budgets.  

Key Responsibilities

Key tasks will include line management of a production team, project estimating and costing, guiding titles from conception, through delivery of raw script, pre-press and manufacturing, to delivery of stock. You will work closely with our in-house Editorial, Design, and Sales and Marketing departments and with suppliers both onshore and offshore.

Skills, Knowledge, Experience

  • minimum of five years’ relevant experience (at least two of which should be at production manager level)
  • detailed knowledge of the production life cycle for highly illustrated, non-standard books including co-editions and safety testing
  • proven colour print buying experience from Far East and European suppliers
  • strong knowledge of book repro processes and experience press-passing
  • line management
  • problem-solving skills and a proactive attitude
  • strong communication, organisation and negotiation skills
  • excellent attention to detail
  • competence using Word and Excel is essential, and familiarity with Biblio 3 publishing system would be desirable

The role is a full-time permanent position, based at our main office in the heart of London’s west end, 50 Bedford Square, London, WC1B 3DP.
