Publicity Manager – Adult Non-Fiction

The opportunity

Bloomsbury Publishing Plc is looking for a highly skilled Publicist to work with our non-fiction publicity team across our award-winning non-fiction special interest list. This is an exciting opportunity for an exceptional and experienced publicist to create major campaigns for bestselling authors across the non-fiction list. The Bloomsbury adult special interest division has a wide range of distinguished non-fiction titles covering topics from current affairs, popular science, religion and business to sport, wellbeing and natural history. Our acclaimed list of authors includes: Douglas Murray, Justin Welby, Vassos Alexander, Anna Williamson, Jenny Landreth and David Cannadine. The Publicity Manager reports into the Senior Head of Adult Marketing and Publicity for Special Interest Non Fiction.

 

The role

  • Creating exceptional, impactful and imaginative publicity campaigns across the Bloomsbury special interest non-fiction list
  • Creating and managing a strong relationship with editors across the non-fiction lists
  • Driving publicity campaigns for key titles and Bloomsbury’s highest profile non-fiction authors
  • Effectively communicating with internal and external stakeholders on all aspects of publicity and events on campaigns
  • Management of campaign budgets
  • Liaise with the global marketing and publicity teams to ensure that Bloomsbury titles are promoted globally whenever possible
  • Attendance of editorial meetings, reading and feeding in the meeting and involvement in acquisition pitches
  • Stay informed about new publicity insights, developments and opportunities
  • Strengthen relationships with media (print, broadcast and online) and promote the Bloomsbury brand and authors
  • Work creatively alongside event and festival organisers to bring Bloomsbury authors to the public in new and dynamic ways

 

Knowledge, skills and experience

  • Minimum of 3 years’ book publicity experience required
  • Proven track record in managing all aspects of book publicity campaigns
  • In-depth understanding of the non-fiction retail marketplace
  • Understanding of how to build and lead effective campaigns and how integrated all aspects of a marketing and publicity campaign have to be
  • Excellent communication, inter-personal and presentation skills
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Creative flair
