Head of Publicity – Cookery – maternity cover 6 months

The Opportunity
Bloomsbury Publishing is looking for a Head of Publicity with strong cookery contacts to lead the Cookery Marketing and Publicity team across our high profile and award-winning list. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced, publicist to create major campaigns for bestselling names as well as breaking out new authors. The list covers both the Bloomsbury and Absolute imprints and is the home of renowned bestselling chefs including Tom Kerridge, Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall, Raymond Blanc, Jack Stein and Atul Kochhar. Our wide range of cookbooks celebrate all aspects of food from brilliant baking to garden to table.

 

The Role

  • Driving publicity campaigns for key titles and Bloomsbury’s highest profile cookery authors as well as breaking out new authors
  • Managing the cookery marketing and publicity team
  • Cultivating good relationships with the food media (print, broadcast and online) and promoting the Bloomsbury brand and authors
  • Creating and managing a strong relationship with editors across the cookery lists
  • Effectively communicating with internal and external stakeholders on all aspects of marketing, publicity and events
  • Management of campaign budgets and overseeing list budgets which are managed by marketers
  • Liaise with the global marketing and publicity teams to ensure that Bloomsbury titles are promoted globally whenever possible
  • Attendance of editorial meetings, reading and contributing to the meeting and involvement in acquisition pitches
  • Stay informed about new marketing and publicity insights, developments and opportunities
  • Ongoing development of partnership relationships
  • Work creatively alongside event and festival organisers to bring Bloomsbury authors to the public in new and dynamic ways
  • Reports into the Senior Head of Adult Marketing and Publicity

 

Skills, Knowledge and experience

  • A proven track record in managing all aspects of high-profile publishing publicity campaigns
  • Strong relationships with the food media
  • An in-depth understanding of the cookery retail marketplace
  • An understanding of how to build and lead effective campaigns and how integrated all aspects of a marketing and publicity campaign have to be
  • Management experience
  • Excellent communication skills
  • The ideal candidate will possess exceptional inter-personal, presentation and organisational skills, in addition to creative flair

 

This role is a fixed-term 6 month contract based at Bloomsbury’s London office; 50 Bedford Square, London, WC1B 3DP.
