Senior Publicity Manager – Non-fiction list

The Opportunity
Bloomsbury Publishing is looking for a talented, innovative and experienced publicist to join the press team as Senior Publicity Manager for nonfiction. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a variety of high profile authors as well as break-out talent, across our thriving, award-winning nonfiction publishing list.

 

The Bloomsbury Adult division has a wide range of distinguished nonfiction from popular culture, current affairs, history, psychology, politics, economics, biography and more. Our acclaimed list of authors includes Peter Frankopan, William Dalrymple, Rutger Bregman, Reni Eddo-lodge, A.C. Grayling, Germaine Greer, Adam Sisman, Frank Dikötter, Elizabeth Gilbert, David Kynaston, Kate Summerscale, Sebastian Mallaby, Amy Chua, Alex Bellos, Simon Singh, Patti Smith and P. J. Harvey.

 

The Role

  • Manage impactful, creative and wide-reaching campaigns for our most high-profile authors, while making a name for others, across the growing and impressive non-fiction list
  • Work alongside marketers in the non-fiction team to create focused and cohesive campaigns
  • Continue to build good relationships with the media (print, broadcast and online), meeting journalists regularly
  • Work creatively alongside event and festival organisers to bring Bloomsbury authors to the public in new and dynamic ways
  • Liaise with and lead the global marketing and publicity teams to ensure that Bloomsbury titles are promoted globally whenever possible
  • Effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders on all aspects of marketing, publicity and events
  • Manage individual title publicity budgets
  • Liaise closely with colleagues across editorial, sales, marketing and rights
  • Attend and contribute to editorial meetings, as well as acquisition pitches
  • Report to the Head of Non-fiction Marketing and Publicity

 

Skills, knowledge and experience

  • A proven track record in managing all aspects of high-profile non-fiction publicity campaigns  
  • Excellent communication skills, with a particular ability to write succinct and engaging press releases and pitches
  • The ideal candidate will possess very good interpersonal, presentation and organisational skills, in addition to creative flair
  • The perfect candidate will have the ambition and zeal to break out debut non-fiction authors and the ability to position titles as agenda-setting

 

This role is a full-time permanent position, based at Bloomsbury Publishing Plc, 50 Bedford Square, London, WC1B 3DP.
