Head of UK Key Accounts – Adult

The opportunity
We are looking for a Head of UK Key Accounts to join our fast-paced and dynamic sales team. Responsible for managing key accounts accounts including Waterstones and Supermarkets, the successful candidate will involved in all areas of the publishing process and build strong relationships in marketing, publicity, operations and editorial.  This role reports to the UK Sales Director, Consumer Division.
 

The role

  • Maximise turnover and profit for UK Key Accounts including Waterstones and Supermarkets
  • Submit and secure titles for promotion at these accounts and ensure each deal is profitable
  • Attend relevant internal and external meetings to feedback from the accounts and help shape the sales strategy
  • Be involved in all areas of the publishing process and build strong relationships in marketing, publicity, operations and editorial
  • Meet ambitious monthly and annual budgets for key accounts
  • Read weekly submissions and give confident, informed opinions
  • In conjunction with the Sales Director, set print numbers, acquisition figures, give sales updates to editorial etc
  • Manage key members of the Adult Sales team
  • Attend Author/Agent pitches as required
  • Attend Covers meetings and advise re suitability for Market
  • Deputise for Sales Director as required
  • Regular liaison with Marketing/Publicity teams re campaigns/taggings/POS etc
  • Manage Key Account Spend budget and ensure ROI
  • Key point of Contact for Third Party publishers

 

Skills, knowledge and experience

  • Excellent communicator who is confident dealing with people at all levels
  • Excellent time-management and organizational skills
  • Excellent Presentation skills
  • Excellent relationships with UK Head Office accounts
  • Experience in multi-tasking and prioritizing a heavy work-load
  • Ability to adapt and react quickly to change
  • Good attention to detail
  • Working knowledge of Biblio, Nielsen, Midas, Cognos and Vista
  • Knowledge of the UK adult market and trends

 

This role is a full-time permanent position, based at Bloomsbury Publishing Plc, 50 Bedford Square, London, WC1B 3DP.
