Senior International Sales Manager

Bonnier Publishing is currently searching for an experienced, results-driven and successful sales professional to manage international rights sales, through developing, leading, and delivering on our sales goals for international rights and co-editions. The position encompasses direct selling and management responsibility for both adult trade illustrated nonfiction and children’s books. The successful applicant will be based at our London offices with travel to our other offices as and when required.

What you’ll be doing: 

  • Managing and executing on international rights and co-edition sales.
  • Managing commissioned sales reps.
  • Selling adult trade illustrated nonfiction and children’s books to assigned territories and overseeing sales of commission/house reps in all territories.
  • Meeting or exceeding sales targets for international rights and co-eds.
  • Working closely with publishing teams in order to have thorough understanding of the current lists and forthcoming publishing programs.
  • Planning for appropriate sales materials and new book information for international customers.
  • Advising on sales opportunities, providing feedback & sales progress and discussing sales issues, through regular sales update meetings and weekly team meetings.
  • Establishing strong and effective relationships with existing and new publishing clients, commission reps, and sales teams.
  • Actively researching and developing new customers.
  • Tracking and managing ongoing sales status by deal, through maintenance of databases and use internal accounting system.
  • Providing regular sales forecasts & sales status reports.
  • Managing and tracking international royalty deals.
  • Following-up on customer requests for sample material; tracking purchase orders & contracts; assisting accounts department enquiries in relation to billing, establishing credit and following up on payments.
  • Working directly with production department on product pricing, shipping information, and production scheduling.
  • Managing business on a profitable basis; being aware of required margins and understanding quantity and price requirements in respect of each title or series.
  • Maintaining a current collection of sales material, including book samples, catalogs and other materials.
  • Liaising with co-edition partners for send out of translation material, contracts, and related co-edition matters
  • Supporting international sales representatives as needed and arranging to send out book samples and other material.
  • Traveling to accounts as needed for sales purposes, to international offices as required.
  • Organizing and attending London Book Fair, Frankfurt Book Fair Bologna Book Fairs, and others as needed.
  • Managing all aspects of rights sales, including but not limited to contracts, sales tracking and recording, sales solicitations, send-outs, follow up, staff management and travel arrangements.

 

What you’ll bring to the table:

  • 6-10 years’ experience directly selling and managing translation right and co-edition sales
  • 2 years or more experience managing sales staff
  • Results-oriented focus and selling acumen
  • Keen attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • Rigorous attitude to follow up, and impeccable communication skills in all mediums
  • Ability to track, manage and share information in an appropriate and timely manner
  • Adaptability and the ability to gather and organize multiple inputs of information from diverse sources
  • A positive, can-do, service oriented attitude
