Production Controller

D Giles Limited is a leading publisher of illustrated books for museums and galleries. We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Production Controller to join our team, based in our Lewes office in East Sussex. As Production Controller, you would report to the Production Manager, and work closely with a team of editors and designers, managing your own titles through all stages of production.

Key Responsibilities

• Place and manage the repro, print and shipping of allocated titles
• Deliver high quality books within given budgets and schedules
• Interpret and communicate client’s instructions to suppliers
• Build and maintain strong working relationships

Experience / skills required as follows:

• A minimum of 4 years experience in the production of quality, 4-colour books
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills
• A solid understanding of print and reprographic processes
• Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, especially InDesign and Photoshop
• Ability to assess the quality of digital and original materials
• Proven colour management skills
• Press-passing experience
• A keen eye for detail and accuracy
• Ability to manage budgets, and negotiate and interpret supplier quotes
• An organised yet flexible approach to time management and planning
• Capable of managing several projects at once, working to time pressure and fixed deadlines
• Basic knowledge of shipping procedures would be an advantage
