Assistant Editor, Ebury Enterprises

An exciting opportunity has arisen at Ebury Enterprises, an editorial department within Ebury Publishing, producing branded books in partnership with world-famous companies and household brands. Books include food and drink publishing with iconic British brands; gift books in association with major tourist attractions; exhibition tie-ins; business memoirs by leading lights in a wide range of industries.

We are looking for a highly organised and motivated Assistant Editor, with initiative, ideas and creativity, to work on a variety of beautiful illustrated and black and white books. Reporting to the Publishing Director, you will be responsible for a wide range of editorial and administrative tasks, for example:

•             Liaising with freelancers – from designers and photographers, to copy-editors and project managers

•             Managing costings, schedules, and budgets

•             Briefing designers and illustrators

•             Checking proof corrections, writing cover copy and advance information sheets

Excellent communication skills and a confident, professional approach are essential, particularly as you will be dealing with a wide range of brands and authors. You will have proven experience in a similar commercial publishing role, with excellent editing and proofreading skills, a meticulous eye for detail and at least a year’s experience in a similar position. You will also possess good IT skills and an ability to prioritise and work to tight deadlines. Some sales experience would be useful.

Please apply with a CV and cover letter by 14th October.
