Editor

We believe that a diverse workforce strengthens our creativity and delivers the best commercial performance.  We are therefore seeking applications from people, whose backgrounds, experience and identity broadens and enhances the diversity of our company.

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a talented and creative Editor to join our team working on our award-winning and bestselling fiction list.

We’re looking for someone efficient and reliable, who knows the market and will come to every project with an inclusive approach and sensitivity to the author or brand. You will work with the Commissioning Editors on line edits, proofreading and copyediting, liaise with authors on editorial feedback and the development of manuscripts, and produce creative copy for blurbs and sales material.

You will support the team on delivering polished manuscripts on schedule, always with the reader in mind and you will play a part in creative project development and helping to find the Next Big Thing. As the role develops, there’s potential for you to take the creative lead on select projects. At Egmont, we place the editorial relationship at the very heart of every project – making sure our expertise helps authors deliver the very best stories for children.

You’ll need to demonstrate a knowledge of the UK children’s fiction market and some hands-on experience of editing children’s fiction, ideally with copyediting and proofreading experience. Knowledge of Biblio would also be an advantage.  Above all we’re looking for someone with a real passion for what they do to join this driven, creative and collaborative team.

The role is based in our WeWork offices in the heart of London and is close to several stations including Fenchurch St, Bank, Tower Hill and London Bridge.

Our company purpose is to make all children proud readers through our broad portfolio of inclusive, child-friendly books and magazines for children and families from all backgrounds, for every interest and reading ability. We are committed to creating opportunities for people from groups traditionally under-represented in publishing.

Egmont is the publisher of some of the world’s leading children’s authors, illustrators and brands including Michael Morpurgo, Andy Stanton, Jim Smith, Julia Donaldson, Tintin, Winnie-the-Pooh, Star Wars, Minecraft, Mr Men, Thomas & Friends, Disney Princess, Toxic and Go Girl to name just a few!  We are also part of the Egmont Group; Europe’s largest children’s publisher telling stories through books, magazines, film, TV, music, games and mobile in 30 countries throughout the world.
