Publishing Assistant (DEAN)

Fixed Term Contract (12 months starting January 2020)

We believe that a diverse workforce strengthens our creativity and delivers the best commercial performance.  We are, therefore, seeking applications from high quality people, whose backgrounds, experience and identity broadens and enhances the diversity of our company.

We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated and highly organised Assistant to join our team working on Dean, an imprint that specialises in direct to customer publishing.

The position will assist the Editorial Manager to carry out the administration, set up, creative planning and costing of all new book projects for retailers or specific third party customers.  You will be an important part of this busy and fast moving department – helping to ensure that all our projects are being managed efficiently – from idea and first costing stage right through to final delivery.  We are looking for someone who will stay on top of the systems and processes to make sure every project stays on track.  You must also be able to help with devising and managing a creative plan, including writing a design brief and taking on copywriting tasks.  You will then see that plan through, ensuring the finished books are delivered in line with the customer’s requirements and with Egmont’s publishing strategy.

If you are someone who has:

  •  an interest in books, reading and in all areas of children’s publishing;
  • some experience of working in a busy office environment;
  • excellent written English and organisational skills;
  • a genuine willingness to learn

….. then we would love to hear from you.

The role is based in our offices at Minster Court, near Fenchurch Street mainline station and Tower Hill or Bank tube stations in the City of London EC3.

Our company purpose is to make all children proud readers through our broad portfolio of inclusive, child-friendly books and magazines for children and families from all backgrounds, for every interest and reading ability. We are committed to creating opportunities for people from groups traditionally under-represented in publishing.

Egmont is the publisher of some of the world’s leading children’s authors, illustrators and brands including Michael Morpurgo, Andy Stanton, Jim Smith, Julia Donaldson, Tintin, Winnie-the-Pooh, Star Wars, Minecraft, Mr Men, Thomas & Friends, Disney Princess, Toxic and Go Girl to name just a few!  We are also part of the Egmont Group; Europe’s largest children’s publisher telling stories through books, magazines, film, TV, music, games and mobile in 30 countries throughout the world.
