Production Editor Associate Communications Strategy & Competition

The salary range will be approximately 23,750 to 35,000 GBP plus a competitive benefits package and non-contributory pension.

The Communications Division builds internal and external confidence in, and understanding of, the work of the FCA. The Division enables the use of communications as a regulatory tool, telling people what we do, how we do it, and why we do it, to prompt behavioural change and promote mutual understanding with the communities in which we work. The Division consists of three areas:

  • Corporate Communications.
  • Business & Consumer Communications.
  • Strategic Communications.

This role is a key one for the Editorial and Digital team, part of the FCA's Strategy and Competition Division, primarily focussed on co-ordinating the production process for the FCA's Handbook as well as for the wider editorial team at the FCA. The remit of the role will be wide-ranging, encompassing planning, co-ordination, delivery and editorial work across a large number of different content types, formats and channels.
 

What does this job involve?

This role will ensure that the FCA produces timely, high-quality publications across its print and digital channels.

More specifically, the role involves:

  • Management of Editorial and Digital production schedules.
  • Editing and proofreading publications.
  • Liaising closely with policy-makers and legal drafters about processes, content and schedules.
  • Ownership of the processes and procedures for making Handbook changes.
  • Proactively gaining and capturing intelligence on forthcoming Handbook changes.
  • Working closely with the Handbook website supplier to build effective working relationships by attending regular production meetings and monitoring service levels.
  • Supporting the Handbook Team Leader to deliver the Handbook strategy internally and externally.
  • Completing online consolidation testing.

Which minimum, essential & desirable skills are required?

Minimum

  • Educated to degree level or similar qualification.
  • Proven legal and publishing experience.
  • Experience of using Microsoft Office and project management software, eg, Asana.

Essential

  • Evidence of excellent communication skills can demonstrate ability to explain complex issues succinctly and with clarity, both in writing and orally.
  • Proven sound attention to detail can demonstrate a thoroughness of approach to work and an achievement of high standards in output.

  • Strong influencing skills.
  • Good organisational and time management skills, ability to prioritise and manage workload.

  • Co-ordination and time management skills.
  • Comfortable with web publishing technology, eg, Drupal.
  • Copy editing and proof-reading skills.

Desirable

  • Experience of working in the legal sector.

  • Ability to act and work on own initiative.
