We have a maternity cover vacancy for a Children's Editorial Director.
In this high-profile role you will have editorial responsibility for a number of key authors on the Faber Children's list, across illustrated fiction, non-fiction and fiction from 6+ up to Young Adult, along with line management of an editor and an editorial assistant. Editorial responsibilities will include structural editing, writing copy, briefing covers, writing marketing materials, liaising with pre-press, proofreading, reading submissions, presenting at launch meetings and sales conferences, liaising with authors and agents, maintaining in-house databases and systems, and liaising with the Sales, Marketing and Publicity departments. There is also the opportunity for some commissioning.
The ideal candidate will have considerable experience in children's publishing at a commissioning level, will be highly organised, creative and have a keen eye for detail.
This role is offered as a full-time position, on a contract of up to 12 months, to start as soon as possible, based in our Central London office.
