Publisher – Trade (London)

Our client, a leading international London based book publisher has a unique career opportunity for an experienced trade Publisher to run their adult illustrated general trade books division.

Your role as Publisher will be to help create and develop a growing list of highly successful illustrated consumer mass market trade books and well-known imprints.

This London based post will include responsibility for the direction and shaping of a broad list of subjects including popular reference and pop culture titles (the remit excludes cookery or lifestyle or health books).

This is a senior board level role which would suit an ambitious highly motivated individual with the drive to make this role their own.  

You'll report to and work closely with the MD on driving strategy and creating new products for both home and international markets. The Publisher will oversee and manage a very experienced team of editors.

The successful candidate will need to show they have an excellent track record in creatively acquiring and producing books without paying high advances. The MD is looking for candidates whose experience reflects a background in producing general illustrated consumer mass market popular reference, pop culture trade and licensed titles.  

This role would suit non-corporate candidates with an entrepreneurial approach to publishing and a creative flair for producing commercial books. You’ll need to be very commercially minded able to thrive under pressure.
