Key Account Manager

We are looking for a Key Account Manager to join the HQ team for a fixed term maternity cover contract. This role is an integral part of the Sales team, reporting directly into the Divisional Sales Director, and working in conjunction with account managers from across the HarperCollins sales team.
 

Responsibilities

  • Deliver the U.K sales and channel strategies for key UK accounts with objective of driving profitable sales
  • Responsible for selling a wide portfolio of authors across a spectrum of key genres
  • Manage retail budget, adding value and securing optimum promotional space across varied sales environments
  • Promote accounts with internal publishing teams and act as a spokesperson for those accounts internally
  • Manage and negotiate the best possible sales terms, protecting HCP margins whilst maintaining positive relations and growth with key customers. 
  • Develop strong customer relationships and partnerships that deliver growth, maximising the opportunities offered to the business by the strategies pursued by customers on front list, backlist and bespoke or special product.
  • Assist the business’ position in any group terms negotiations for your customer base and work in day to day partnership with internal teams across editorial, marketing and production
  • Work closely with key customers to lead the market and consistently innovate

Key Skills/Experience

  • Graduate level (or equivalent)
  • Full driving licence
  • Sales Exec level experience
  • Publishing background
  • Have the ability to use own initiative
  • Cope well in pressurised environment
  • Actively creates sales opportunities
  • Effective multi-tasker
  • Excellent time management skills 
  • Effective and persuasive communicator at all levels

We’re based in the News Building which we share with our News UK and Dow Jones colleagues in the newly-established London Bridge Quarter, opposite the famous Borough Market.  Our new open-plan office has amazing views across London, and includes a variety of break-out areas to aid inspiration and a collaborative approach, a multi-media suite, and a fabulous canteen floor and book shop.
