Production Controllers

We produce resources for UK and International curricula to support teachers and pupils at school and outside the classroom environment.
 

Collins Learning are looking for two Production Controllers to work on the Education and Language lists. In this role you will be liaising with editorial teams and external suppliers in the UK, mainland Europe and Asia to ensure our titles are produced on time. You will be part of a busy team producing front and back list titles on our prestigious Collins Dictionary series, ELT, Primary and Secondary school titles. You will do costings for new titles, reprints and special sales, negotiating with suppliers on price and schedule and ensuring the target quality of the products. Responsibilities

• Costing new titles in Production Manager for acquisition, checking P&L before circulation
• Place titles according to schedule required and ensure bound stock dates are met. Progress chase Editorial and printer for bound stock.
• Liaise with warehouse and client service to release your titles
• Keep tight control on schedule at every stage (copy edit, design, proofread etc)
• Check colour proofs where necessary and make sure printing matches proofs
• Check plotter proofs or InSite proofs
• Flight check new titles, check TPS, resolution and colour
• Assist other controllers and Production Director according to workload and departmental needs.
• Digital Asset Management
• Ensure all titles are archived on Telescope, including PDF files, application files and images. Maintain version control

Key Skills/Experience

• Degree and/or Print Publishing qualification (LCP etc.)
• Book production experience
• Strong communication skills, oral and written
• Good computer skills, Word, Excel, Data bases
