Audio and Digital Production Manager
Head of Zeus is an award-winning independent book publisher specialising in genre fiction, narrative non-fiction, and children’s books. We publish around 250 new titles a year.
The Production department is recruiting an Audio and Digital Production Manager. We are looking for a smart and enthusiastic candidate with exceptional organisational skills and a strong interest in the digital side of publishing. The successful candidate will be solely responsible for the management of the audio and the eBook production schedules.
Primary responsibilities will include:
Audio – c.100 titles a year
- Being the primary point of contact between Head of Zeus and the external production companies
- Managing the various audio schedules, liaising with the editorial and production departments at Head of Zeus to ensure deadlines are met
- Sending layered art files to the audio houses
- Working alongside editors on narrator suggestions and approvals, sending voice briefs to editors and / or authors, ensuring their approval on time
Digital – c.160 titles a year
- Being the primary point of contact between Head of Zeus and the conversion houses for the production of eBooks and POD files
- Managing the eBook schedule across all imprints and sending out files to outside suppliers for conversion – this means liaising with editorial and production departments to ensure the timely delivery of final texts and covers; reviewing main texts files for anomalies; and compiling materials to send out
- Checking eBook files and distributing POD files for one of the imprints (40 titles yearly)
- Correcting and updating some eBook files to support the editorial department
Key skills required
- Outstanding organisational skills
- Excellent communication skills, with a collaborative and co-operative approach
- Knowledge of, or a wish to learn about, CSS and HTML
- Accuracy and a keen eye for detail
- The ability to multi-task and prioritise effectively
The role is full-time and based in our office in Clerkenwell (Angel / Farringdon / Kings Cross tube stations). Applicants must have the right to live and work in the UK.
Salary: £24,000 per annum; 25 days’ holiday, plus benefits.
