Global Group Sales Assistant Director

Psychoanalytic Electronic Publishing (USA) and the Institute of Psychoanalysis (UK) are looking to appoint immediately a full time, but with flexible working, intelligent and enthusiastic computer confident individual to be Global Group Sales Assistant Director.

Psychoanalytic Electronic Publishing (PEP) is a US not-for-profit which principally publishes a world leading online psychoanalytic archive with 22,000 subscribers across the world. Most of them are organized in local groups which enjoy advantageous rates.

The Institute of Psychoanalysis (IOP) is the leading psychoanalytic institute in the UK with a world-wide reputation. It has published the International Journal of Psychoanalysis (IJP), founded in 1920 under the direction of Sigmund Freud. The Journal is the leading journal in the field and currently published by Taylor and Francis, who handle institutional subscriptions and production.

Group and individual subscriptions to the IJP are processed through a semi-automatic (PaDS) database shared with PEP and specially designed for the purpose. The database is accessible 24/7 from anywhere in the world and allows ordering, payment, online access, journal distribution and accounts’ functions with a minimum of effort.

The post-holder will assist in the operation of the PaDS database to process PEP orders and, as the main focus, will be responsible for the development of group subscribers to the International Journal (IJP). Some groups have an existing relationship with the IJP, many groups have a relationship with PEP. The primary task is to increase the number of groups subscribing to the IJP and/or the number of people within those groups subscribing. Aided by contacts both organizations already have with groups or potential groups, this important task will involve developing relationships by email and Skype (etc.) and promoting special offers and then processing those orders through the PaDS database.

On occasion, the post-holder may be asked to represent PEP and the IJP at conferences in the UK, Europe or the US.

The salary attached to the post is up to £40,000 p.a. depending on qualifications and experience. The post allows flexible hours, based at the Institute’s offices in Maida vale, London.
