Foreign Rights Manager

Laurence King Publishing is recruiting a Rights Manager to join our small friendly team.

Established in London in 1991, Laurence King Publishing is recognised as one of the world’s leading publishers of books and gifts on the creative arts. We work with some of the world’s best illustrators, designers, artists and photographers to create outstanding books and gifts which are acclaimed for their inventiveness, beautiful design and authoritative texts.

We are looking for someone with a love of adult and kids’ books and a talent for nurturing customer relationships. Good communication skills and a friendly manner are essential, as is a clear understanding of the publishing business and the role of rights in maximising revenue. The role covers the whole process from presenting new ideas, through contract negotiation and drafting, to ensuring that payments reach us on time, as well as feeding back on market trends and reporting to senior management. We are a tight-knit team, and everyone helps at peak times with catalogues, bookfairs, admin and other essential tasks.

The ideal candidate will be proactive and well organised, with 3+ years' experience of selling co-editions and licenses to illustrated book publishers, and plenty of customer contacts. Foreign languages would be a definite advantage. Because it’s a small team, the specific markets are to some extent negotiable. The role is full-time, based at our head office in London with regular travel to bookfairs and customers.
