Little, Brown Book Group is one of the most successful and dynamic publishers in the UK. Across fifteen imprints, we publish as wide a range of titles as anyone in the industry, and pride ourselves on the quality, variety and diversity of our publishing output. The vibrant Design Department is an essential part of this, looking after the creation of innovative and commercially successful book cover designs for all of the imprints.

What you’ll be doing

You’ll be a vital part of bringing our books to life, working alongside a team of highly creative, well regarded and hardworking designers who tackle the challenges of a diverse range of book titles. You will handle the creative process from initial brief to final artwork, overseeing the creative, innovation and commerciality of all titles in the Women’s commercial fiction genre across all imprints.

A major part of your day will be the development of great working relationships with our editorial teams where strong skills in conveying ideas and effectively interpreting feedback will be essential. You’ll be working on key titles and brand authors whilst being be a strong advocate for the design team, offering advice and guidance on all designs in this area. There will also be scope to tackle other titles from across the publishing list.

Who we’re looking for

We are looking for an experienced senior book cover designer with substantial evidence of successful designs and passion for the women’s commercial fiction genre, along with in-depth knowledge of the current market. A broad portfolio of design work, experience of working in-house, commissioning illustrators, photographers and other outside designers is essential.

A positive attitude and proactive nature is a must, along with a love for problem solving. You’ll possess great communication skills, strong abilities to foresee potential obstacles and offer alternative solutions. Exceptional Adobe Creative Suite skills and an established knowledge of print and digital reproduction know-how is also required.
