Publishing Director

Our client, a leading global publisher, requires a Publishing Director that will be responsible for setting, refining and delivering the clients global publishing strategy.

You will provide leadership and direction to the senior publishing team and to the wider publishing and production functions. As one of the five executive members of the Board of Directors, you will be integral in developing and driving the company’s overall strategy and decision-making and one of its key representatives to the communities we serve and the wider publishing industry.

Key Responsibilities:

Publishing vision and strategy

Further develop our successful global publishing strategy for the physical sciences, encompassing journals, books and news products under multiple business models; help researchers, their funders and institutions and our publishing partners to achieve their goals through the excellence of our products and services.

Publishing and Production leadership and operational management

Provide strong leadership and direction to the senior management team and to the wider publishing and production functions.

Publishing Board and Senior Management Team

Work with other directors and senior managers to deliver the company’s short- and long-term strategic, operational and financial objectives; be a leading public face of the company.

Knowledge and previous experience

• Extensive experience in STM publishing including management and growth of journal portfolios
• Significant leadership experience and expertise
• A proven track record of managing, developing and motivating teams
• Strong commercial acumen with the ability to seek out opportunities for growth

• The ability to think creatively, solve complex problems, make sound business decisions and direct and drive change initiatives
