Assistant Agent - Mulcahy Associates

We seek a talented, dynamic Assistant Agent to join our team, with progression to full-time Agent in their third year. You will ideally have 2-4 years experience in a trade publisher or literary agency and may have started growing your own author list. This new role involves author care, manuscript editing, publisher pitches and general agency admin. Your reading taste can be wide-ranging but commercial sensibility is important.

Established by Ivan Mulcahy in 2003, Mulcahy Associates originally specialised in non-fiction, with a particular strength in memoir/biography, history and economics. Bestselling authors have included Clare Balding, Ha-Joon Chang, David Mitchell, Robert Webb and Dame Vivienne Westwood. Sallyanne Sweeney joined the agency in 2013 and, in the years since, fiction and children’s books have become a significant part of the business. Prizes won by our authors include the (Baileys) Women’s Prize for Fiction, The Desmond Elliot Prize, The Rooney Prize for Irish Literature, Irish Book Awards Newcomer of the Year, France’s Prix Libr'à Nous for Best Foreign Novel and the Sainsbury’s Children’s Book Prize.

Our authors come from throughout the UK and Ireland but as both Ivan and Sallyanne are from Dublin, the agency has evolved into a primary outlet for first-rate Irish writing. We assert ourselves as being the best home for new Irish authors seeking to build an international publishing career. In 2016 we joined with Milburn Browning talent agency to form MMB Creative and have added new staff to create a dramatic rights division and voiceover sister agency, Fuller Voices.
