Editor (Collection Information Project)

The National Gallery offers the opportunity for a part-time editor (working for 3 days) to work directly with curators, authors, and Gallery experts to update and enrich our public-facing information about our collections. The post-holder will be part of the two-person editorial team responsible for copy-editing and proofreading the texts produced for our major Collection Information Project, and will collaborate in setting up editorial standards for the Project.

We are looking for someone with significant experience of copy-editing and proofreading, immaculate written English combined with the ability to write in a style appropriate to a particular audience and medium, the ability to adapt content to a broad and diverse audience, and a demonstrable informed interest in the history of art as it relates to the Gallery’s collections. An understanding of different on- and off-line communication channels, particularly relating to cultural heritage and fine art organisations, and of how source content can be used to populate them, would be an advantage.

This fixed-term post is part time for three days per week for a period of 18 months.

Please note previous applicants to the Editor role (Full time or Part time) that was advertised May 2017 need not re apply.
